The U.S. Department of Labor and The Nevada Apprenticeship Project take a stand on PCA education
In an effort to provide education excellence for future caregivers the US Department of Labor (DOL), in partnership with the Nevada Apprenticeship Project (NAP), recognized PCAT’s curriculum and awarded approval for Apprenticeship grant funding as of August 2017.
I am very pleased to report that these appropriated grant funds allowed me to offer PCAT, free of tuition costs, to students hired by three of the nations leading home care agencies. Graduated students are presently employed and reaping the rewards of their significant hard work and dedication.
Personal Care Aide Training under an apprenticeship model greatly benefits employers, employees, care recipients and communities…
- PCA Apprenticeship Programs provide enrolled-employers with an affordable, simple and effective mechanism for training AND retaining new caregivers.
- Apprentices do not pay for this training.
- Home care recipients ultimately reap the benefits of well-trained, ethical, caregivers as this workforce standard of care is elevated.
- The workforce is enriched. Under various apprenticeship models communities have seen appreciable improvement in unemployment numbers.
Here’s how I can assist you to secure a PCA apprenticeship for your home care agency or assisted living facility…
In addition to my academic credentials, I have amassed more than 30 years of professional practice, teaching experience and business ownership. I fully understand the health education process and the various issues associated with general business and human resource management. Additionally, as stated above, I have worked with three national home care agencies to bring PCA training under the Department of Labor model to Nevada. My familiarity with the Department of Labor and the Nevada Apprenticeship Project programs allows employers, who wish to participate in apprenticeship grant funding, to easily incorporate pre-approved, requisite educational requirements into a customized PCA training program.
(Becasue economic development is bolstered when employment opportunity is met by a skilled labor force, PCA training meets, absolutely, the criteria set by many regional and community economic development plans.)
